🚲 Stage description and details:
You leave Nogent-le-Rotrou via a greenway running beside the Huisne River. Further on, you ride along a little country road. After 8km, at Condé-sur-Huisne, you then join a greenway laid out along a former railway line. This stage allows you to cross a portion of the Perche without having to tackle any slopes… well, almost none!
There’s the possibility of getting off this greenway to enjoy a stop at the villages of Dorceau or Rémarlard-en-Perche. Signposted links guide you to them from the greenway.
⭐ Don’t miss:
- The Château des Comtes du Perche, a medieval castle looking across the hills of the Perche area, while inside, a museum recalls the adventures of the lords of the Perche through history.
- The hamlet of Villeray is a typical Percheron village, its low little houses climbing a narrow slope, while its former mill with waterwheel has been transformed into a hotel with restaurant. Why not offer yourself a relaxing break at the Domaine de Villeray with its Spa Pom?
🍴 Food and drink en route:
- Nogent-le-Rotrou: with many shops and a market on Saturday mornings on Place Saint-Pol.
- Margon: boulangerie close to the Etang de Margon, a lake north of town that makes a lovely picnic spot.
- Condé-sur-Huisne: market on Friday mornings
- Rémarlard-en-Perche:
- Food and drinks stores and a market on Monday mornings on Place de Gaulle.
- The restaurant En gare, set immediately beside the greenway, offers local, good-value food. It’s ideal for a lunch stop.
