✔️ Hybrid bike, trekking bike or gravel bike: perfectly suited to tarmacked stretches and greenways, these three types of bike are also made for carrying all manner of luggage in a variety of ways (with luggage holder, bike-packing panniers, etc).
😐 A mountain bike is a possibility if you don’t have a choice. Heavier bikes, not automatically equipped with fixing points for bike pannier racks, mountain bikes are also less efficient in terms of energy required (our tip: slightly over-inflate your tyres to three bars instead of the recommended two bars).
❌ We advise against using road bikes built for performance, as they are more fragile and less comfortable for such trips and the risk of punctures is greater.
✔️ In contrast, more robust road bikes such as certain sports or touring bikes or certain vintage models can prove very good. We advise you to opt for a tyre width of either 25mm, 28mm, or even 32mm, if possible, to increase your comfort.

❔ What about handcycles, tandems and trailers? Except for a short stretch along which we advise you to dismount (along the Chemin de la Butte aux Buis on the stage Versailles – St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse), the rest of the cycle route shouldn’t present any problems. Any gates encountered should have enough space to get around. Do be aware, though, of the rules on taking bikes aboard trains run by the French national rail service, the SNCF which officially forbid transporting such types of bikes onboard, unless they have been dismantled (where this is possible).
