Carrouges Castle
A brick castle!
Magnificent Carrouges Castle was built from 14th to 16th centuries.
Its wings, made of brick and granite, surround a rectangular courtyard. The buildings, which include two square corner towers, a keep and a gatehouse, are surrounded by a moat. Visit the furnished apartments inside and the room where King Louis XI spent a night. As to the former collegiate church (the 'chanoinerie'), it's now home to the team of the Parc Naturel Régional Normandie-Maine.
